How to Apply for Global Entry for Your Baby: A Step-by-Step Guide

If you love to travel but dread those long airport lines, let me introduce you to your new best friend: Global Entry. And guess what? Even your little one can join the program! In this post, I’m breaking down how to apply for Global Entry for your baby so you can breeze through airports hassle-free.

What Is Global Entry?

Global Entry is a trusted traveler program by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that lets you skip the long customs lines when traveling internationally. Bonus: it includes TSA PreCheck, so you save time at security too. And yes, even newborns are eligible!

How to Apply for Global Entry for Your Baby

Step 1: Create a Trusted Traveler Program (TTP) Account
Start by creating a Trusted Traveler Program account for your baby online through the Department of Homeland Security website. You will need a dedicated email address for your baby.

Step 2: Complete the Application
Fill out your baby’s Global Entry application, including details like their name, date of birth, and passport info. The fee is $100 per person, including babies (no discounts, sadly).

Step 3: Schedule the Interview
After you submit the application and it’s conditionally approved, schedule an in-person interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center. Click here to find the nearest location.

PRO Tip

Skip the hassle of scheduling a separate interview! If you’re conditionally approved for Global Entry, you can complete your interview upon returning to the U.S. from an international trip through “Enrollment on Arrival.” Just follow the agents’ directions in the Global Entry line and you’re set.

Step 4: The Interview
During the interview, your baby’s photo will be taken, and the questions will mostly focus on the parent’s responses. It shouldn’t take longer than 5 minutes. Depending on your baby’s age, they may also take fingerprints.

Step 5: Approval
Once the interview is complete, you’ll receive the final approval within a few days. Your baby will get a Global Entry card in the mail (useful for land/sea crossings but not needed for flights).

Tips for a Smooth Application Process

  • Start Early: Applications can take weeks or even months, so plan ahead of your next trip.
  • Have a Passport Ready: Your baby will need a passport before applying for Global Entry.
  • Pack Snacks & Toys: Keep your baby entertained during the interview—it makes everything easier.
  • Use TSA PreCheck: Once approved, your baby’s Global Entry includes TSA PreCheck for faster security and customs.

Why It’s Worth It

While applying for Global Entry for your baby may sound like a lot, trust me—it’s so worth it. Skipping customs lines after a long flight and breezing through TSA makes traveling as a family so much less stressful. And when you’re juggling suitcases and snacks with a baby on your hip, every saved minute counts!
